Keep your eyes open...

...You never know who you might meet! We saw some familiar and unfamiliar wildlife out in New England apart from the whales and raccoons. Here are some wild turkeys:

An acorn-eating squirrel (I badly wanted to see a red one, but alas...)

A sea bird - maybe a shag?

We were also quite fortunate for once to be stopped in a traffic jam, because we spotted this merlin having his dinner, and I managed to snap the photo by rolling down the car window!

We didn't manage to spot a moose, although we saw plenty of traffic signs. Perhaps our luckiest sighting was a black bear cub by the side of the road (we did a U-turn when Dave overheard a tourist chatting while he was taking a picture of the Mt. Washington Hotel), although sadly we don't have any photos as he dashed off into the woods.
