Furry Friends

We met a few furry friends in Ao Nang and enjoyed catching up with them every day of our stay. There was a family of black and white cats around the Resort and the mother and her kitten would visit us for breakfast. I think I got caught sneaking them some chicken sausage. The kitten didn't know how to chase the stick I was waving for him, so his mum had to show him how it was done. After that, he seemed to have fun playing games.



Another furry highlight of my stay was a cute rabbit who lived with a man who sold artwork and wooden carvings just outside Peace Laguna. The rabbit would keep him company all day on the opposite seat while he sat outside his store, occasionally nipping in to our favourite noodle restaurant just next door to sleep under a table, or to the roadside to nibble at the grass growing there. His friendly owner was deaf and would mime his antics to us and let us pet and feed him.
On our last day we bought a carved pink frog that would 'croak' when stroked with a stick - quite rightly as our friend gestured it would help keep his rabbit fed!

She Sells Sea Shells

Making a collection of sea shells found on the beach is one of life's simple pleasures... I never get tired of it.

No, 9

Here is my favourite spa, Saleema's No. 9. You'll find it near the Last Fisherman Bar, along Ao Nang Beach. I like it here because Saleema and her family are friendly, not pushy and they are all very skilled at Thai massage. Thai massage is very firm and deep, apparently you learn it at the hospital and it takes a week's difficult and serious training to earn your certificate, hence the ladies can teach you a little of their techniques but recommend going to the course. I would love to learn, it is a real art form.

The big advantage to going to No. 9 instead of one of the fancier air conditioned spas is that you can relax to the sound of the waves on the beach and the sea air cooling your skin. They also have chairs on the beach and give you tropical fruits to enjoy.



It sounds extravagant, but I had a Thai full body massage, manicure, foot scrub and pedicure... for the equivalent of about £8. There is a lot of attention to detail, my big toes have never looked this pretty before with each flower painted on with a tiny paintbrush.

Being in Krabi makes me feel just like this...

Eat Thai, Snack Thai

We love Thai food and have really enjoyed staying in Krabi, where the seafood is abundant and tasty. Here we are at one of our favourite restaurants by the beach. Not only is the food 20% off in the low season, it's 2 for 1 cocktails! While we weren't indulging in fine restaurant food, we managed to sample a lot of the local drinks and snacks.

They have lots of fish snacks, fruit drinks, and interesting flavoured crisps/chips including sweet basil, spicy lobster, seafood, ham and cheese, and my favourite, seaweed. We also found a young coconut on the beach and by chance I was able to drill a hole at the top with a shell and had a refreshing drink.





Looks like an illustrator went to town on these drinks... love it.




And this is for my mother and father-in-law, who both love broccoli! A drink containing broccoli.

Sand Art

We took a longtail boat out to Rai Lay Beach yesterday and found thousands of tiny art installations on the shore.







If you stay very still and keep your eyes out you can see the clever artists.

Paradise

If you ever decide to honeymoon in Thailand, I have no reservations in recommending Peace Laguna Resort to you. Although we arrived tired, anxious and with no clean clothes our smiles could not convey enough delight when we opened the door to our honeymoon cottage.



There were romantic and thoughtful details everywhere. The cottage was strewn with beautiful exotic flowers.


Fresh tropical fruits including my favourite, rambutan (the hairy looking one!).

Peace in Krabi

We have arrived at the beautiful Peace Laguna Resort in Krabi, Thailand. It wasn't exactly the smoothest journey out here, but the resort is lovely and the nearby town full of delicious places to eat.

Fortunately our lost luggage finally turned up as well. It's been well travelled - from all the tags it seems to have gone London - Doha - Singapore - Kuala Lumpur - Bangkok - Krabi!!!
