Planning a wedding that's not going to be held at a wedding venue can be a difficult; our vision of a wedding-at-home is a bit unusual in Britain and organising it has come with its own highs and lows. I am very lucky to have a groom who is involved equally in the planning and we jokingly refer to it as taming the 'wedding beast' especially when we're feeling daunted. Picking the right marquee hire company and caterers are definitely the big expenses. While we've put down the deposit for the marquee, we are still choosing our caterer.
We've met with three from a shortlist now, and it's a bit of an experience. I think having the right personality in your caterer is a huge thing and I like the can-do and friendly attitude. I can say one of the caterers was quite scary and stress-projecting at the first meeting (and perhaps last?) making us feel very low about our wedding, and our favourite so far has gone the extra mile to show us what they can do. We attended our first tasting with them today and left with huge smiles. They sat us down to a complimentary relaxed lunch with delicious canapes and three courses without obligation to make a decision there and then. Definitely a high, as they made us feel that everything was coming together as it should.
Yesterday I got to see a preview of Dave kitted out in top hat and tails when we visited a suit hire shop... I am looking forward to seeing him at the end of the aisle! Today's been a productive day too as we've also searched out our perfect first bed and sofa too, as our new flat will be unfurnished. The moving day should hopefully be in late February.
