Torrent

We explored Taupo by car, making our way around the lake.

Huka Falls was definitely worth the stop, to see icy blue waters plunging in a mighty torrent. It's a river like you've never seen before.

The jet boaters get closest to the action, though they're wise to keep their distance from the Falls as there is a strong very undertow.

The surrounding landscape seems more placid, although at second glance it's definitely volcanic.

The geothermal power plant is close by. There's also a prawn farm using the excess warm water generated.

And onwards to Tongariro!
