Hurray! Here are some proper photos of our visit to the Tower of London, courtesy of Chris... It's a great place to see if you're interested in English history, especially Henry VIII, or even if you've just watched 'The Tudors' or enjoyed Philippa Gregory's books. Sarah was our official historian.
We skipped the crowds around the Yeoman Warder tour and went off to explore the fortress, including seeing the Crown Jewels via 'conveyor belt'. It's a moving walkway, I think designed so crowds don't linger too long and press their noses up against the glass. There are some giant gemstones there, including the Star of Africa which is the largest cut diamond in the world.

The White Tower, which currently houses the Henry VIII: Dressed to Kill exhibition. An impressive collection of armour and weaponry that personally belonged to the king. He was around Dave's height, which would have been quite imposing in those days! There are also exhibitions in the Beauchamp Tower, Bloody Tower, and Medieval Palace, and a memorial to those executed at Tower Green.
We walked across Tower Bridge to get to London Bridge Station at the end of the day. It's hard work being a tourist...

Hurrah, looks like a fun day out as a tourist. Isn't the jewel conveyor belt hilarious? I was doing some serious rubber necking in there. xx
