We were coming out of the driveway yesterday and noticed that the neighbours had an interesting thing happening on their family car. At first I thought it must have happened by mistake, but no, she's properly strung on there.
I forgot to mention another encounter with some urban art. When Mum and I were in Wellington for the Police concert, we lived on Cuba St. One evening we were walking past Logan & Brown, which is a restaurant in a building with distinctive brickwork. Perched between the bricks was a sculpture we dubbed 'Mr Wellington'.
Here he is perched onto a little vase to stop him from rolling around. I picked him up half expecting him to be stuck to the wall. Ruey says that it's a 'thing' to have urban artwork up in the city in places where people pass by everyday, that artists want people to interact with their installations and see what reactions occur. Another street installation I've seen is Microclimates which was an event in in Youthfest 2007 in Taranaki. I saw one in the gutter of a street corner and another nestled under a cafe window. Really neat, especially lit up.

This weekend I also have found Felt which is a NZ version of Etsy, a place on the net that you can buy and sell craftwork. There was a small spread in the new craft magazine, worldsweetworld which is fantastic. It's modern and inspiring, this issue tells you all about recycling and also some different projects like upholstering with billboard vinyl and how to turn Corona bottles into cool tumblers.

i know what you mean about street art. that's how i feel about street graffitti art. its' like they made it just for you to notice and spot around the city.
that's why it was so much fun going hunting for the giraffe graffitis!

now that' you're unemployed, how do you fill your days?!
Well, Monday was full of running to the bank and the travel agents, Tuesday I dyed one of my Gap cardigans (it was fun!) and did some cooking. Today, I'm off to Shirley to spend some time while Mum's at a meeting... and tomorrow I'm off to Melbs. Other than that, chain-watching Gilmore Girls DVD sets (I now understand what it's about and know what they talk about) and tidying up all my hoards of junk. Freaking out quietly about 20kg luggage restrictions and what the weather in England is really like.
