Oulrika Valley

On the second day in Marrakech, we went on a day trip to the Atlas Mountains. We booked on an excursion at through an agent beside Dave's favourite roof terrace cafe (for taking photographs of Jmaa el Fna, the big public square). I was finding Marrakech to be a bit of a shock (very hot and more commercialised compared to Essaouira and Fes, so it was a great idea of Dave's to head out to the country for a day. It was fun to be with a group, we ended up stopping by a roadside pottery as an Australian woman in the group was a sculptor.

As we came closer to the Mountains, the view was amazing.

Across the river you could see kasbahs and villages.

There were lots of makeshift bridges - probably re-built each year as they get washed away by the spring melt.

I thought diverting a small part of the river was an interesting way to keep your drinks and oranges cool!

We trekked up the valley to the 'mouth of the river' or the Cascades.

Nice and cool!
