Very little building has been going on due to extreme cold weather here :( Minus 4-5 Celsius last night and not getting above freezing all day. Far too cold for brick laying, which is frustrating as we only really have 2 days brick laying left to go before starting the roof (which is much less temperature sensitive, and far more rain sensitive!).
Meanwhile, we have been picking our winter veggies. The romanesco broccoli we grew all summer in our raised beds looked quite impressive:
Unfortunately it doesn't taste all that great... The brussel sprouts were quite a lot nicer but we only really got a couple of handfuls! So far not a great success for the winter veg given all the work we put in removing caterpillars!
We spent last weekend out in the winter sun on a Christmas shopping trip to nearby Marlow:
The river was incredibly high after last weeks heavy rain and the path was not easy to walk on. We'll save that adventure for the summer! Instead we had a fun time exploring the town and finding some interesting houses:
Although its not easy to see in this pic (that's what happens when I leave my DSLR at home!), the weir across the river was roaring fiercely, and the current spectacular!
We also had a little visitor from Salisbury:

it looks absolutely freezing over there. keep warm with mulled wine and the fire.
fingers crossed for warmer weather so the brickies can finish up!
