Its not been kind weather lately, so I've merged 2 weeks work together...
Sadly the UK has been hit by some serious flooding last weekend. Not a problem here in the chalky Chilterns but have a look at our pictures from Evesham to see some of the devastation! And then we've been hit by a big freeze, with the first sub zero temperatures of the year, and a high today of 2 degrees. Good thing we've got our toasty wood burning stove going!
Here's Char enjoying it's warmth by the christmas tree:
The build has been hit badly, but the builders have soldiered on admirably regardless.
The scaffolding went up - on a very wet day indeed!
Then the cold weather hit, and the builders had to use hessian to help stop the mortar freezing:
Finally our first steel RSJ arrived:
Looks innocuous enough, but I helped move it and man is it heavy!!! I wasn't around when they did it, but somehow they got it onto the scaffolding and into place above our large opening into the garden:
So here we are this weekend - nearly ready for the second lift of scaffolding:

Looks like the wood for the fire is gathered and not bought from stores?

Not envious of your winter and being so cold too.
Good to see Char on her laptop writing to her mum. Good girl ;).
Dave gets the wood from a tree surgeon contact, his parent's delivery of wood or 'wombling' (ie finding abandoned pallets or bits of wood people throw away!).
