Royal Gardens

My favourite part of visiting Osbourne House, Queen Victoria's family retreat on the Isle of Wight was walking around in the beautiful walled garden and Swiss Cottage. The cottage was built for Victoria and Albert's nine children, intended for them to learn gardening, cooking and domestic care. Each of them had a plot of garden that they tended complete with minitature wheelbarrows, spades, forks and rakes with initials. Amazing to think that those young princes and princesses went on to found the bloodlines of most of the European royal families.

It was such a pleasure to walk around the late summer garden.
