Eat Thai, Snack Thai

We love Thai food and have really enjoyed staying in Krabi, where the seafood is abundant and tasty. Here we are at one of our favourite restaurants by the beach. Not only is the food 20% off in the low season, it's 2 for 1 cocktails! While we weren't indulging in fine restaurant food, we managed to sample a lot of the local drinks and snacks.

They have lots of fish snacks, fruit drinks, and interesting flavoured crisps/chips including sweet basil, spicy lobster, seafood, ham and cheese, and my favourite, seaweed. We also found a young coconut on the beach and by chance I was able to drill a hole at the top with a shell and had a refreshing drink.

Looks like an illustrator went to town on these drinks... love it.

And this is for my mother and father-in-law, who both love broccoli! A drink containing broccoli.

Sand Art

We took a longtail boat out to Rai Lay Beach yesterday and found thousands of tiny art installations on the shore.

If you stay very still and keep your eyes out you can see the clever artists.

Lovely Ao Nang Beach and the Andaman Sea.

Paradise

If you ever decide to honeymoon in Thailand, I have no reservations in recommending Peace Laguna Resort to you. Although we arrived tired, anxious and with no clean clothes our smiles could not convey enough delight when we opened the door to our honeymoon cottage.

There were romantic and thoughtful details everywhere. The cottage was strewn with beautiful exotic flowers.

Fresh tropical fruits including my favourite, rambutan (the hairy looking one!).

The love seat in front of our lagoon view.

Rose petals in our jacuzzi...

We decided to add a little personal touch...

I couldn't resist decorating my new husband either!

In Transit

Dave and I unfortunately had a terrible journey to Krabi, being delayed by more than a day due to a missed connection. We were unaware that we'd been sold flights with an extremely tight connection in Doha by Qatar Airways... and we missed our flight onwards to Kuala Lumpur by 3 minutes. This had the 'domino effect' of delaying us almost 48 hours due to having to wait for countless airline staff to assist us from everything from re-arranging our flights and accommodation to locating our baggage (which were left in Doha by Qatar while we had travelled to KL). I could go on, it was a very anxious, exhausting and stressful time for us when we should have been relaxing... but here are the positive bits of our transit!

In short, my very first stay in an Arab country (although only a few short hours from midnight to 5.30am) and some new stamps in my passport. I didn't get to do any touristy things but managed to find these interesting figurines in the hotel giftshop. They represent very well the style of everyday dress of the men and women in Qatar.

I caught some glimpses of Doha while heading back to the airport. Looks like a fascinating place, I just wouldn't want to fly their national airline again.

Bye for now, Qatar.

Peace in Krabi

Peace laguna resort

We have arrived at the beautiful Peace Laguna Resort in Krabi, Thailand. It wasn't exactly the smoothest journey out here, but the resort is lovely and the nearby town full of delicious places to eat.

Fortunately our lost luggage finally turned up as well. It's been well travelled - from all the tags it seems to have gone London - Doha - Singapore - Kuala Lumpur - Bangkok - Krabi!!!

Mr & Mrs

We are officially Mr and Mrs! Thank you so much to everyone who made our day the most perfect wedding we could have dreamt of. A gorgeous summer day and service, fairytale marquee in a rose garden, wonderful guests, a real 'dream team' of caterers, photographer and hairdresser.

It's been a real whirlwind these last 10 days and we've hardly slept a wink. Off on honeymoon in the morning for 4 weeks... please bear with us and we'll have photos up after a bit of a relax!

Much love,
Char & Dave
