Treasure Hunt

It was a rather wet and blustery weekend in London, we still managed to keep ourselves busy! We decided to go on the ShootLondon Treasure Hunt. The idea is to find and shoot locations in London's South Bank and City in a creative way, using the clues and map provided.

We enjoyed the novelty of being led to some new places around London - even if you've been to some of the more familiar sights there are still a few things to see in hidden corners. The walk to get to the location of each of the seven clues also took us on little diversions, like the Hunterian Museum. It was an amusing way to see the City, would love it if the clues were a bit more cryptic or if one led to the other... like maybe a London version of the Da Vinci Code?

A great place to pick up unusual craft items - fancy a handbag made out of shopping bags? Or how about a giant carved wooden duck?







We hadn't even known that London had an old Roman amphitheatre buried underneath the surface. The circular line in the paving above shows the outline of its walls, and you can go down and visit part of the excavated foundations still preserved in-situ beneath the Guildhall Art Gallery. There are a lot of lighting effects to try and bring it to life...



Having missed out the final location due to rain and darkness (but we have been there lots of times so didn't feel cheated!) - we stopped by in Oxford Street to look at the Christmas lights.



The streets were heaving with people, but fortunately they had pedestrianised the area for the weekend.





The Selfridge's window displays were charming as ever. The characters are fairly self-explanatory.





We then rushed over to Wembley as we had tickets for Eddie Izzard's latest show, 'Stripped'. (If you don't know Eddie, have a look at this - or the lego version here!)

So we had a nice meal with Dave's family, and then took our seats in the giant arena.



Sadly the stage was a long way away, we only booked the seats 4 months in advance and there was hardly any choice left! A great night out though and a great show.
